Rooted in Rights is a program of Disability Rights Washington, Rooted in Rights exists to amplify the perspectives of the disability community by making content accessible and creative at the same time. We include captions, audio description, image descriptions, and transcripts in our video content and on social media to ensure access, and we advocate for other creators and digital platforms to prioritize accessible digital spaces. Rooted in Rights team of disabled media makers tell authentic, accessible stories to challenge stigma and redefine narratives around disability, mental health, and chronic illness. Based in Seattle, Disability Rights Washington and the Rooted in Rights program are not geographically connected to the southern border region. However, Rooted in Rights works with a range of partners across the United States and internationally—including the border states of California, Arizona, and Texas—as a recognized go-to media team of and for the disability community.
