Abyssinian banana at water edge - high forest in back. The forest along stream becomes more and more prominent and finally - a high forest type, great tall white trunk trees and stream and mt. with Musa abyssinica everywhere. Agriculture along here…

A palm - str... but with huge leaves - is much used here and at Kindu for building purposes. It is like an oil or Raphia. Here petioles are shown split to make fiber. [Shantz travel journal, May 3, 1920]
Grasses mixed. The trees are robusta like acacias with very fine foliage. Cassia occidentalis fore. This plant seems to have been planted. A pretty small tree like bush. But all along I have seen the plant sent in from Kongolo, and here it is…
