Shows a cut in the road - through granite (soft) with pine (probably Pinus pinaster) showing damage by wind. In back the plantation shows on mt. side. Soil is a rotten granite. In many places entirely new. In other places leached reddish clay like - reminds one continually of southern California soil. Occasionally the soil is dark at the surface.
