Title
Forest of mango trees
Description
Forest of mango trees in back - manihot etc in fore. Rice here grown on low land and on some of the fields water is now standing over the soil. As you approach Tabora - "the mango city" - mango trees become unusually abundant. They form an irregular orchard - everywhere in corn, rice, or manihot - or native grassland, along streets, in parks and yards. [Shantz travel journal, Mar. 28, 1920]
