Cleared land in fore - with cut out pits, a stream in the mid back, and trees in the back. Stumps are cut off about three or four feet above the ground.Here the ant hills are of the monument type - and just beyond candelabra euphorbia almost forms the skyline in one place, and it becomes a thick brush - vine like herbs and almost impenetrable. But large tree stand and above ... it is really a dense dry forest. [Shantz travel journal, Mar. 30, 1920]
