Description

I have made a suite of poems that call on the living ghosts of Tucson nightlife and the convivialities impacted with the onset of COVID-19. How have queer Latinxs been impacted? How do DJs find work and pay the bills when the clubs have all closed down? My project relies on anecdotal registers about the recent past. I still imagine my poems having some space to think about the public sphere and queer Latinx radical occupation of public space. I would like to think about how my poetry project might offer representations that help us reevaluate our relationship to public space and imagine news ways to occupy public space once we get through the other side of this pandemic.
