Title
Rio Grande, practically dry, near the Guadalupe Bridge east of El Paso/Ciudad Juarez Mounds at Mexican side
Subject
rivers
Description
An almost dry Rio Grande. Dried vegetation lines both sides of the river bank. The Rio Grande is often reduced to a trickle and can become difficult to recognize. Because of growing agricultural demand for the water, many irrigation ditches actually carry more water than the river does. Many people attempting to cross the river at this point downstream from El Paso and Ciudad Juarez believe the mighty Rio Grande to be an irrigation canal.
