Interview with Heriberto Deandar Robinson

Heriberto Deandar Robinson,editor-in-chief and shareholder of El Mañana, discusses the family legacy that led him to a life in journalism, his experiences living in the border region, and the security measures that all journalist must take in order to report on local news. Remembering some of the most graphic effects of the violence in Tamaulipas, Deandar talks about the meager efforts by politicians and others to stop the violence and to facilitate access to international interests bent on taking advantage of Mexican gas and energy for financial gain.

Heriberto Deandar Robinson, director editorial y accionista del diario El Mañana, habla del legado familiar que lo llevó al periodismo, de sus experiencias viviendo y trabajando en la región fronteriza, y de las precauciones de seguridad que se toman los periodistas al reportar noticias locales. Recordando algunos de los más gráficos efectos de la violencia en Tamaulipas, Deandar habla de los escasos esfuerzos que los políticos y otros toman para detener la violencia, lo que facilita que intereses internacionales obtengan acceso al petroleo y energía mexicana con interes en mantener ganancias monetarias.
