Interview with Enrique Lerma

Enrique Lerma, reporter and cameraman for Fox News 48 (Brownsville, TX), talks about his childhood and his experiences in Matamoros, which he calls "the cradle of drug trafficking." Lerma describes the challenges and restrictions that journalists in the area must endure, the safety precautions he takes when on the job, and the link between jailed criminals and border violence. Lerma claims that it is easier for male reporters to get exclusives over their female counterparts, especially when said reporter has grown up in the area. Lerma gives his opinion on the political climate under president Peña Nieto, as well as his predictions for the future of the region.

Lerma describe los desafíos y restricciones por los que pasan reporteros en la región, las precauciones que él toma en su trabajo, y el vínculo entre criminales presos y la violencia en la frontera. Lerma asegura que es más fácil para un hombre que para una mujer el obtener exclusivas, en especial si se ha criado en el área y da su opinión sobre el clima político bajo el Presidente Peña Nieto, compartiendo sus predicciones para el futuro de la región.
