Remembering some of the most graphic effects of the violence in Tamaulipas, Deandar talks about the meager efforts by politicians and others to stop the violence and to facilitate access to international interests bent on taking advantage of Mexican gas and energy for financial gain.

Following the 1803 Louisiana Purchase, the Federal government started surveying the West with the intention of selling as much land as possible to the public. The system used divided land into thirty-six single-square-mile sections. Each section equaled 640 acres or one square mile. Thirty-six squares made up one township. This system is still in use today. This 1905 map offers an excellent example of the acquisition of land under this system by the Empire Cattle Company.

Moon Journey represents the collaborative endeavors of Claudia Smigrod, photographer, Jake Dingman, writer, Sam Singman, musician, and the staff of Pyracantha Press; John Risseeuw, Dan Mayer, and Patrick Vincent. Claudia's photographs were generated by pinhole cameras and informed the text and music. The negatives were scanned and digitally printed on Moab Entrada Rag Natural 190 paper with Epson UltraChrome HDR ink. The embossments and handset Baskerville type were printed on Somerset Book paper. Accompanying sound disc: Moon journey requiem.
