                <text>Printed broadside by President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna regarding the battle of Padierna where, due to his order to General Valencia's men to move out of their held positions to flank the Americans, Major General Winfield Scott, was able to take advantage of the gap and advanced on Mexico City. The battle of Padierna (or Contreras), although believed to be a minor battle, was significant due to the quarrels and betrayals that plagued the Mexican leadership and army. This communication by Santa Anna is written in response to General Valencia's broadside wherein he accuses Santa Anna of treachery. In his own broadside Santa Anna, paints himself the hero of the tale and lays the failure of the battle at General Valencia's feet.  Comunicado imprimido por el President Antonio Lopze de Santa Anna respecto a la batalla de Padierna, donde, debido a la orden de Santa Anna a los soldados del General de Valencia (de salirse de la posición que habían sido previamente ordenados a mantener al flanco de las tropas Americanas), el Mayor General Winfield Scott, fue capaz de aprovechar la brecha y avanzó a la Ciudad de Mexico. La batalla de Padierna (o Contreras), aunque se pienza que fue una pequeña batalla, fue importante debido a las riñas y traiciones que plagaron el liderazgo de México y del ejército.
