A photograph of a view up the river. The bed is largely rock. There is large amount of vegetation surrounding the sides of the river.

Train shadow spoils a fine view of mountain and thorn forest. Grass is not abundant here. The thorn, sansevieria and shrubs cover all. A decided thornbush type. [Shantz travel journal, Apr. 11, 1920]
