The University of Arizona Libraries is piloting the use of Reclaim Hosting’s Domain of One's Own shared web hosting service that provides access to open-source tools to support digital scholarship. Each participating Reclaiming the Border Narrative grantee receives a domain registration, access to web publishing applications, and web hosting for the creation of independent digital collections.
Participating grantees retain control over their intellectual property, archival content, and design direction for their digital collection site. Access to the digital collections is the objective, however, grantees determine access levels, description, and contextualization of their digital collections. The Reclaiming the Border Narrative project team provides guidance on archival best practices, accessibility, and technical support for the creation of the digital collections. The University of Arizona Libraries will provide support beyond the project period, offering guidance on maintenance and opportunities for long-term accessibility and preservation of the digital collection sites.
