Trucha

Rio Grande Creatives Project

The Rio Grande Creatives Project highlights the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) cultural landscape through articles, videos and new media that share original narratives of the region’s artists. Trucha collaborated with local organizations in creative ways that mobilized the RGV community on immigrant rights, reproductive rights, racial justice and the environment.

Trucha is an independent multimedia organization dedicated to the people, the culture and social movements of the Rio Grande Valley, the southernmost tip of Texas along the US-Mexico border. We center queer and migrant communities of color. Trucha creates and curates community journalism, videography and creative and cultural programming to craft a more nuanced and holistic regional narrative. We counter the mainstream media’s harmful framing of our region by showcasing grassroots perspectives, experiences and creativity.
