Interview with Jose Omar Rabago

Jose Omar Rabago, executive director of Centro Nacional de Comunicación Social (CENCOS), discusses his organization's mission to defend freedom of expression in Mexico. Rabago also discusses the progress and challenges facing new laws, talks about the new special prosecutor established to defend freedom of expression, and discusses the differences in operations with other organizations in Mexico such as Center to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and Reporters without Borders. He suggests that a major problem between these organizations include fighting for resources and in their self interest.

José Omar Rabago, director ejecutivo del Centro Nacional de Comunicación Social (CENCOS), habla de su misión de defender la libertad de expresión en México. Rabago también describe el progreso y los retos que presentan las nuevas leyes, habla sobre la fiscalía especial que ha sido establecida para defender la libertad de expresión, y discute las diferencias entre las operaciones de otras organizaciones en México, incluyendo el Centro para la Protección de Periodistas (CPP) y los Reporteros sin Fronteras. En su opinion, el principal problema entre estas organizaciones incluye la lucha continua por escasos fondos y el interes por si mismo.
